Petra Špaková’s internship testimony – Steilmann

“You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” People are learning every day and that is why this internship was really one of the best experience I have ever had. Thanks to MOD´SPE Paris Central Europe I had a chance to have intenship in the fashion company that is called Steilmann s.r.o.
Steilmann AG is a family-owned fashion company with an unique DNA and a rich heritage. One of the branches of Steilmann AG is Steilmann s.r.o. that is located in Prague-Čestlice, where I was working for the duration of one month as a trainee. Steilmann s.r.o. is offering men´s and women´s clothing of high quality.
Because of the fact that Steilmann s.r.o refers to multibrand concept, it does sell also another brands. For instance: Steilmann, Stones, Apanage, Kapalua, Comma, Jones, Easy by Jones.

By being as a trainee in the company Steilmann s.r.o. I got the very spectacular chance to go deeper in fashion business. Many new interesting tasks were given to me in the sense of learning something new.
During this time I was able to practise the knowledge I have learned during my studies at MOD´SPE PARIS CE. By being one of the employees in this company I learned many new things. What is more I had a chance to understand the B2C model which is very important in the world of fashion business.

What I liked the most was the fact that I was in a heart of the company. I was able to see and listen the main principles to running a fashion business company.
My missions were different. Each of them had very valuable impact. As part of the internship, I was in charge of managing showroom samples, assisting with stores, working directly with whole team in the office with administration, monitoring the rotation of the goods and working on special creative projects such as visual merchandising. I had a chance to see many fabrics and materials, which are used while designing the clothes. One of the mission was to create the fashion lookbook too.
Moreover, I have met great collegues who made perfect atmosphere at work. I am very thankful to MOD´SPE PARIS CE and I am really looking forward to next internship next year.

Sole Urbanova’s internship testimony – French Showroom

My internship was completely a new experience for me. I was really curious how it will be. Basically, my internship was based in Paris in a showroom of a french fashion brand, working as an assistant of the export manager for two months: from May till July. I was helping the social media manager and the PR manager as well.

The aim of the export management of the brand is to expand into countries such Italy, Spain, Russia, Africa and Asia as the fashion brand is only located in France. There is a lot of preparation: from design to the best strategy how to enter to the new market that has a big potential.

My assignments were various – from research to meetings with the agents to assisting photo – shootings, translating and working on the future export e-shop.
The team itself, people that i was working with every day, was very nice and pleasant. My colleagues and boss were very friendly, funny and patient with me as i was trying to learn and speak french with them.
Paris as a city is amazing. I fall in love with it. Beautiful city with many options and possibilities especially in art and fashion. There is a lot of inspiration behind every corner and just walking through the streets and discovering new stores, and talking with people, got me a lot of ideas, and opened my mind ever more. Every day there is some exhibition, fashion show or some event, that is even hard to follow what everything is going on in this city. Not even to mention the amazing architecture and design of some buildings, restaurants and fashion stores.

The whole experience was enriching and helped me to figure out more clearly what i would like to do in the future and what kind of internship i would prefer for the next year.
I learned new things, get new knowledges in some fields and improve my skills.
Can’t wait for next year for a new challenge!

Sole Urbanova, MOD’SPE Paris Central Europe student / Internship – French Fashion Showroom / May – July 2017

I had internship in fashion company called “Steilmann“. Steilmann Prague is the exclusive distributor of fashion brands of the German-Italian Steilmann Holding AG group. Its products of men’s and women’s fashion can be found in all major cities both in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia. Within the Czech Republic, Steilmann Prague operates a network of its own branded stores, but the goods are also available in many other locations thanks to contracts with business partners. Thanks to this system, Steilmann’s branded products are represented in shopping malls, department stores or specialized shops in individual city centres. Czech and Slovak consumers can meet a wide range of brands from the Steilmann Holding AG portfolio – Steilmann, Stones, Apanage and Kapalua.

During my internship, I had the opportunity to observe the overall operation of the companies from the preparation of collections (start-up phase, selection of fabrics, receipt of new apparel in the warehouse, receipt and arrangement of the clothes in the store, and sales of clothes in individual Steilmann´s stores). As part of the internship, I created The Lookbooks and The Illustrated Dictionary of Fabrics. I saw a lot of fabrics that were used to create collections. I also had access to fabrics for next season spring/summer 2018. During the internship I did an administrative task, more precisely I did VIP cards for customers. I also devoted myself to visual merchandising – how to create a store design. I was in charge of the visual aspect of the whole shop, the arranging of the shop window or the mannequins, the display of the merchandise in the shop and the monitoring of the continuous rotation of the goods. Now I know that up to 80% of human’s perception is based on visual contact, and this is the reason why to act on a potential customer just through the nice “appearance” of the shop. I really like this part of my internship. I could use my creativity and I learnt a lot.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet friendly staff of company, too. During my internship, I was also able to use knowledges, which I learnt at MOD´SPE Paris Central Europe. I think I learnt a lot of how it works in the fashion company. I gained a lot of experiences and that is important for me, because I know that I will use it in the future.

Friday, 21st of April, we have combined two passions for fashion and sport in Bratislava. The first team-building of MOD´SPE Paris Central Europe was organized in partnership with Swiss sport brand ODLO.
Our students, journalists, digital influences and bloggers from Slovakia, Austria and Slovenia visited the premises of MOD´SPE Paris CE. During the morning presentation the ODLO´s manager, Bruno Joly had valuable speech about the topic “How to approach trade and business press”. After lunch, we all moved to DanceCool where we had cool dance session.

In spirit of our sport day, we continued 4 km running session around Danube River through the bridges. Nevertheless still with full of charge, we ended up in a restaurant for snacks, drinks and relax.

When MOD’SPE Paris CE students meet technology and innovation to develop their creative potential

Creative laboratory FabLab is considered to be an opened platform for designers, developers, artists, students and general public. It offers the space for familiarizing with work and technologies of digital fabrication of 21. century. As a new revolutionary project in Slovakia, it reflects the Slovak and French partnership. Our students had an opportunity to see the special techniques of producing using FabLab machines.

2

At first, when we came the atmosphere was very friendly. Our course started with the presentation of FABLAB. We received the information about the world of technology. The FABLAB expert explained us the whole proces of producing the new innovative and various objects. The successful process of making is based on 4 steps :

1. The right idea
2. Construction
3. Prototype
4. Final product

The second part of our course was about showing us the working rooms, which were full of professional machines, lasers and the final products. What was more, we could have tried to build up our own project, which we transported to 3D printer. Regarding the settings of 3D printer, we were able to change the surface, proportions and the colours of our final product. Presently, 3D printers are deeply connected with the graphic design, which we are studying at MOD´SPE PARIS Central Europe – Fashion Business School in our first semester of studies. Using our knowledge, the pinch of creativity and the power of 3D printer we made a high heel shoe as our first final object.

As a result, FABLAB definitelly encouraged and supported our creativity, experimentation and innovation. It gave us the possibility to pursue and realize our ideas.
